Trace Hollow Carbon Steel Mask + Tango2 Universal Pads

Classic lines. Proven materials. The Trace delivers the durability steel is known for at a weight that won't slow you down.

Medium carbon steel hollow wire construction. Higher tensile strength than mild steel. Holds its geometry better under repeated impacts. At 19.52 ounces with Tango2 pads, the Trace approaches aluminum territory without aluminum's weakness. Where aluminum frames are prone to stress fractures and catastrophic failure, steel holds up season after season. Hollow wire flexes slightly on impact, reducing jolt to the head. Works with your pad system instead of transmitting sharp force straight through.

Electrostatic powder coat finish resists chips and scratches through heavy use. Matte black kills glare in direct sun and under lights.

Tango2 Universal pads complete the mask. Impedance-matched dual-layer construction puts every millimeter to work. Medium-firm EVA at the frame interface provides structural stability and initial force spreading. Medium-density VPU at 45 kg/m³ continues deceleration with controlled compression that soft open-cell foams can't achieve. The transition between layers allows smooth force transmission without the jarring spike that occurs when mismatched densities meet. 42mm of purposeful material selection.

Best For: Umpires who want steel reliability with weight competing against aluminum frames.

⚠️ Safety Information

Ambient Temperature Sensitive

This product uses viscoelastic foam technologies that are temperature sensitive. Below 65°F ambient temperature, these materials become increasingly rigid and lose their impact-absorbing properties. In this state, the progressive compression system cannot function as designed, potentially resulting in higher impact forces being transmitted through the padding. For your safety and optimal protection performance, do not uses the these pad cores when air temperatures drops below 60°F.
